1897 1a indigo and red Sultan Seyyid Hamed-bin-Thwain of Zanzibar overprinted "British East Africa" in red, only one trial essay sheet of 60 was printed in red without stop after "Africa" but was unissued in favor of a black overprint, this stamp should not be confused with the special U.P.U. printing of 730 copies in late 1897 which was also in red but with a stop after "Africa.", rare,
